Our "Tails" of Triumph

Hi! I’m Kochi and I was abandoned on a beach when I was only 2 months old with no mom or siblings in sight. Some amazing people rescued me and now I live happily with my new family in the states!
Hi! My name is Charlie and I was abandoned on the streets of Puerto Rico. I am so lucky someone found me and fostered me because look at me now! I am so happy with my new and loving family
Meet Our Dogs
Making A Difference
Help us make a difference in the lives of dogs who are at great risk and whose time is running out. Meet the Satos of Puerto Rico. What is a Sato? A Sato is a Puerto Rican slang term for a stray or mixed-breed dog. Dueto a variety of factors, including low spay/neuter rates, there are 500,000-650,000 Satos in Puerto Rico – and these unfortunate dogs are terribly mistreated, neglected, abused, and abandoned. Here’s a quick look at some facts about the lives of Satos:
- Shelters for Satos that do exist have high euthanasia rates exceeding 90%,
with some as high as 94%. Many are euthanized within 24 hours of arrival.
-Due to rampant overpopulation, Satos are often abused and killed – with
many dumped in remote areas like Puerto Rico’s “Dead Dog Beach.”
-Those that do survive go on to suffer from malnutrition, injuries, parasites
and disease.
Many nonprofits, including Tails of Triumph, are working to save as many canine
lives as possible. Satos make loyal, affectionate, lifelong family members – and we
can help you to save a life by adding a dog or puppy in need to your family!
One dog rescuer told us: “It’s almost like they know, or can sense, that you
rescued them from a terrible life or certain death. I’ve rescued two dogs, and they
are by far the most affectionate, appreciative, and willing dogs I’ve ever had to
good fortune to own.”
Please help us by fostering or adopting a Sato! We can help you choose the right
dog for you, and arrange for transportation here to the U.S. We guide you along
the whole foster/adoption process, making sure your dog has the needed
vaccinations and spay or neuter certificate to become a part of your family!

look forward to speaking with you!
